Home cleaning is one of the most important ways of protecting your family and guests from dirt, bacteria, and other disease-causing substances. It could be easily understandable, but people often forget the importance of a clean home. Basically, when you keep your home cluttered with trash, bacteria, places for illnesses to thrive, and unorganized materials, you would only put your family less defense against well-being disruptors.
Moreover, your home is a representation of its occupants. If it is muddled, people would consider you as a disorganized person, which is not good, especially if your profession requires being a model on hygiene and sanitation.
There are many ways of ensuring cleanliness at home. You could begin with the tiniest things, such as the uses of washing-up liquid. Washing-up liquid is not solely for the kitchen for it has more alternative applications. To give you ideas on how to maximize its use, here are the following recommendations:
Mopping. Do you know you could mop your entire house using washing-up liquid? You could simply add a few drops of it to a bucket of water. By doing so, you could make not only your plates sparkle, but your floors as well. According to people who have tried the tip found out that washing-up liquid works best on tiled flooring, hardwood, and laminates.
Blender Cleaning. You could use washing-up liquid for blender cleaning, starting with filling the machine with warm water and a squirt of the soap. Let the blender run for half a minute. Afterwards, you pour out the water, rinse the machine, and dry.
Carpet Cleaning. A squirt of washing-up liquid could also clean your carpet and free from solid substances, which your kids may inhale. The solution could also blot out stains easily.
Hairbrush Tidying. One of the simple yet significant pros of washing-up liquid is killing all kinds of bacteria and dirt on your hairbrushes. Be reminded that your hair has always been a collector of dirt. You could make it worse if you do not tidy your combs or brushes.
Cupboard Wiping. Grease is a major problem in the kitchen. Besides cleaning your used plates and utensils, you must not forget that oil stains also reach your cupboard. Use clean microfiber cloth soaked in a mixture of warm water and washing-up liquid. Wipe whatever grease you could spot easily and quickly.
Weed Killing. To prepare an effective weed killer out of washing-up liquid, simply add a teaspoon of it with a liter of white vinegar and a cup of salt. Pour the resulting mixture where the weeds may sprout or have grown. Nonetheless, be careful not to use the solution onto places your beloved plants are kept.
Natural Stone Cleanup. You may use washing-up liquid to keep your granite and marble floorings or walls free from unwanted substances. Simply add a little amount of it to warm water, and off you go.
Bathroom Disinfection. Are you out of solutions for your bathroom cleaning? Worry no more, for washing-up liquid may also serve as an alternative. You could simply add equal parts of white vinegar and dish soap in a spray bottle. Shake the mixture and use the resultant. Spray the solution onto your toilet seat, bathtub, and sink.
Wait for 15 minutes before you rinse the entire toilet. Take note that afterwards, you no longer have to scrub anything.
Window Maintenance. The windows of your house have always been exposed to pollutants outside, which means you have to keep them clean regularly. You could simply use a squeegee or sponge soaked in a mixture of warm water and small amount of dish soap. For extra assistance, you may add a little amount of vinegar.
Door Lubrication. Are your doors becoming noisy recently? In that case, you may need to lubricate their hinges using washing-up liquid.
The advantages of washing-up liquid, which are represented by its applications, show that the product could be a cure-all for your home while giving your savings.
Science is an intimidating thing. It is not for everyone and those who have the penchant for it can hardly explain the obsession to the layman. With the constant risk of being called the geek or the nerd, a science scholar is somewhat of an enigma and a self-proclaimed lover of all things practical. But wait, not everything science is scary. In fact, most scientific principles can be understood very simply at the comfort of your home. You can put to practice a combination of these laws by doing some simple experiments using the things you can find at home.
As an example of the same, there are three simple experiments you can do at home to understand science better. You can also perform these experiments as part of built models in your children’s science projects.
- Rainbow in a Glass
Understand density and weight better with this experiment. You can create a simple rainbow of colors in a glass by the simple scientific principle of ‘heavy solutions settle down and the lighter solutions rest on top’. Take sugar dissolved in water along with distinct food colors and pour them into a glass. Remember to dissolve more sugar in the colored water solution which you want to be settled at the bottom. Proceed to add less sugar and a different color compared to the layer before and you will see that it settles distinctly on top of the other layer. There you have it, your rainbow in a glass!
Playing with gooey slime is the new pastime for children and grownups alike. But store bought slime is more often than not unsafe for children. So here is how you can make that icky gooey slime at home! Make your simple mixture with glue, water, and food coloring and add some borax to it to get the perfect slime. There is a very simple scientific principle working here. The glue has liquid polymers and when borax is added to the glue-water mixture, it reacts with the liquid polymers and creates a very singular and flexible polymer that in effect looks and feels like slime. Adding the natural food color will ensure it is safe to be handled.
- Tornado in a bottle
Sounds insane right! To create a tornado in a bottle, all you need are two water bottles, a tube or a stopper to connect them both and some water. Attach the two bottles at the neck with the help of the tube. Fill one of the bottles with some water and hold the attached bottles in an upright position with one bottle over the other attached at the mouth. Now flip the bottle in a swift motion and whirl the water in the bottle that is now on top. When you whirl the water in the top bottle, it creates a vortex because of which it spirals down into the bottle below creating a mini tornado. You can add color or glitter to the water as a fun experiment.
